The South City Group originated in Port Elizabeth in 1969 when it commenced business
as South City Brokers. It offered a Personal Financial Planning service primarily
to the professional and business market in the Eastern Cape area. Over the next
three decades the group expanded its services geographically to all major metropolitan
areas of South Africa.
The natural extension of Personal Financial Planning was the group’s entry into
Employee Benefits Consulting (1971) and Short Term Insurance Brokering (1985), which
operated independently as separate companies. The increasing complexities in the
financial services industry resulted in each Director specializing in their chosen
field of expertise. These entities are now managed independently from each other,
but still maintain a strategic alliance.
